The band was formed in early 2010 from a “get together” of pipers and drummers from the East Lothian Area. While several of theses attendees also teach in East Lothian schools and local pipe bands under a tuition programme funded by The East Lothian Pipes and Drums Trust, there is no connection between The Pryde of East Lothian Pipe Band and the Trust. The idea of the “get together” was to provide relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy pipe band music. This “get together” was formed into the Pryde of East Lothian Pipes and Drums to remember the current Pipe Major’s father: Pipe Major James Pryde MBE. Pipe Major James Pryde was known by alot of the current members of the band and taught a few of the current members to play Ceol Mor and competition playing. The band is currently seeking new members and fund raising for the start of the next competing session in 2011.
